Blog Entry # 3.3 - Design Brief
I am going to design my own cereal box. The cereal box has to honor a person from World History. Cereal boxes often have an image or images of creatures. The cereal box will be informative and include facts about the person. It should represent the regular size of a cereal box and include its features as well. Our target market is for teenagers so that they can have knowledge about a person they have never heard or learned about before.
Blog Entry # 3.2 - Design Task
Our task for this marking period is to create our own cereal box. We were assigned a specific person and we have to honor that person on the cereal box. The person is not Amercian nor Canadian. We have to work individually for the first time. We will look and observe other cereal boxes and observe how they were created. Also, we will learn how to use photoshop in order to make the cereal box.

This is a symbol for greatness. This is one of the many Adinkra symbols which comes from Africa. I think this symbol symbolizes Raffaello Sanzio because he was such a talented person. He created astonishing works of art.

Entry #12 - Interview
Questions About the Event
- When is the event held? Where is it held?
- How will the invitations be sent? (Cost & Material Numbers)
- Are there refreshments? Charge?
- What is the purpose of the event? What is the event about?
- Who are the people/companies involved? (Logos)
Questions About the Invitation
- Wish List? Desires? (pictures/themes)
- Theme Colors? Design elements?
- Dress Code?
- R.S.V.P Information?
Entry #11 - Picture Research
This image is appropriate because parents are being empowered in the PTA. They are knowledgable about what's happening at their kid's school and they know what is needed to make sure their child is succeeding in school. The parent is not kept in the dark about what's going on with their child academically because they are a part of this association.
This image is appropriate because it shows everyone's hands together. This is a symbol of teamwork. There is teamwork with the Parent Teacher Association. Parents have to contribute and come to the meetings so they can know about their child's school, amongst other things such as programs. So there is a partnership with the parents and the teachers.
I think this image is appropriate for my invitation because it shows how people can come together to help education. With the Parent Teacher Association, everyone comes together to help out the community and better the school so the child can have a better learning experience. It is a national organization. This is why I think this is appropriate for my invitation.Saturday, October 31, 2009
Entry #10 - Capturing Attention Project - Possible Interview Questions
- Who is allowed to attend these meetings?
- When are PTA meetings held?
- Where do these meetings take place?
- What is the reason for having PTA meetings?
- Is anything handed out during these meetings?
Entry #9 - Capturing Attention Project - Areas of Interaction
In this project, we will be communicating and be creative which relates to Approaches to Learning. We will be communicating with our partners and to the Event Coordinator. We will be creative in creating the invitations for the specific event. Making the actual invitation is a part of Human Ingenuity. The purpose of making the invitation is to catch peoples' attention and persuade them to attend the event.

Entry #8 - Capturing Attention Project - Guiding Questions
- Do all invitations follow a specific format?
- How are invitations made?
- How will I know if my invitation is good enough?
Entry #7 - Capturing Attention Project - Design Task
For this design task, we have to create invitations for events happening at TMA or one of its partners. I chose to work with Raven Williams and together, we have to produce an invitation for the PTA meetings held at the school. If we're lucky, our invitation could be used for the actual event for the rest of the school year.

Entry #1
Question: How have your actions changed the community?
One action that has changed the community is that I don't contribute to pollution. Instead of riding the bus, or riding in a car, or taking the train, I walk. It is approximately a 15 minute walk. Another way my actions have changed the community is that it is allowing the people who live around me to be able to see that getting an education is a positive thing. My success in school is a primary example that anything is possible once you set your mind to it. The school I go to impresses others because they know that TMA is a good school. My good behavior in school shows that not all kids who live in Harlem are the same. Therefore, that is how my actions have changed the community.

Entry #5 - Success Project - The Design Brief
The design brief basically just talks about the expectations and it introduces the design problem. There is the task, goal, target market, major constraints, and criterion. It states that we will work in groups and create 10 posters of each of the qualities listed in the IB Learner Profile. For our goal, we have to develop an understanding of the IB Learner Profile and educate our peers on the qualities and aspects of an IB Learner. This project is targeting other students, teachers/principals, staff, parents, non-academic and academic visitors. For the major constraints, there has to be no offensive or unneccessary images or gestures. The grammar and spelling have to be proper. No slang would be allowed. Students have to be in uniform while taking the pictures unless permission is given ahead of time. The size of the paper must be 8 1/2 x 11 inches. For the criterion, the project must be creative, visually pleasing, images must be clear, and have to accurately show the appropriate quality.
Entry #4 - Success Project - Areas of Interaction
The areas of interaction that have been highlighted for this design task are Approaches to Learning and Human Ingenuity. With these areas of interaction, we will be able to study habits, communication, information, and reflection a lot better. Also, we will be used to using Microsoft Word and all the characteristics that come along with it. With Human Ingenuity, it'll help us get a better understanding of designs so that we can be able to use our knowledge for the task. Approaches to learning will make us better thinkers and communicators.
Entry #3 - Success Project - Guiding Questions
- What will I choose the format of the word document to be?
- How will I know when a picture best represents a certain IB Learner Profile quality?
- What is the best order to list the qualities in?
Entry #2 - Success Project - Design Task
This semester in Technology Class, our first project is to design a multi-page word document with 10 posters. Each poster has to represent each of the qualities of the IB Learner Profile. The task will be done within groups. We will choose the people we want to work with. Each poster must include a title, a picture, and a caption. Each of our group members must be assigned one or more jobs.
