Blog Entry #5.21 - CAS Evaluation

The group that would be most inspired by my campaign are adults. Adults will see the poster and video and get emotional over it once they think of the innocence of a child. They will be more likely to take immediate action about it. The group that will be least inspired by my campaign are teenagers. I think that I would need to add more drastic pictures to capture the attention of the teenagers. They will think about their little brother or sister and then get concerned about the issue.

Blog Entry #5.20 - Attitudes Evaluation

The Learner Profile quality that was my greatest strength during this project was Inquirers. I was always curious as to how I would make my video. Then, I learned how to create the video on Windows Movie Maker 2 and edit it. I use this newfound knowledge to complete my video. The Learner Profile quality that was my greatest challenge was Knowledgeable. I didn't have much prior knowledge about editing videos. No, I did not work to the best of my ability. I could worked a lot better by making an actual video with people in it instead of making one on Windows Movie Maker 2.

Blog Entry #5.19 - Create Evaluation

One problem that I encountered was adding music into the video. I did not know how to download the music to then import it into the video. At home, I had my phone plugged into my laptop. Therefore, the music files were there. So I imported a song from my phone onto the video. The technology skill I learned was how to edit the video. I edited how long I wanted the video to be and I added pictures. I also put one transition in there and added text. I will use this skill whenever I need to make another video for other classes.

Blog Entry #5.17 - Investigation Evaluation

The aspect of my issue that I chose to focus on was preventing child abuse from happening and how to help those who have fallen victim to it. I focused on this because it is very important for victims to know that they have support from those that care for them deeply. Also, it can be avoided by alerting an authority figure.

Blog Entry #5.16 - Product Evaluation

I could improve my poster design by adding more pictures dealing with Child Abuse. I had only two pictures in the center. I could improve my video by ading more effects and transitions into it to make it look better and presentable.

Blog Entry #5.9C - PSA Concept

Title of your PSA: Child Abuse

What is the main topic of your PSA?
The main topic of my PSA is Child Abuse and how to help to prevent it.

What is your tag line? "It shouldnt hurt to be a child."

What we will see happening in your PSA? What is the story? (At least one paragraph, if not more! Be extremely detailed!)
In my PSA, you will see several different pictures that relate to child abuse. There will either be a picture of a victim of child abuse, inspirational words against child abuse, and or pictures that show just how scared innocent children are when they are about to get abused. The music used in my PSA will reflect the mood of child abuse which is sad/gloomy. This way, the PSA will be more effective.

3. In order to develop an effective PSA you must feel a personal connection to the social issue that you are addressing. What does this social issue mean to you?
I hate Child Abuse with a passion. I know some people who have been physically abused by their parents. It is very heartbreaking to hear of a person who is currently or has been beaten by an adult.

4. What group(s) is/are affected by your assigned social issue?

6. What research (statistics) can you use to support your argument that this is a social issue that needs to be addressed?
I can do research on famous people who have admitted that they have been abused physically by an adult to show that they were able to get passed the Child Abuse. Then, I can look for young children telling their stories so that people can see how hurt and fragile the child is.

7. Agency/Organization

a. List the name of an agency/organization that has been established to address your assigned social issue.
Child Abuse Prevention Association

b. What is their complete contact information? (Include web address, phone number and street and/or email address)

Child Abuse Prevention Association
503 E. 23rd Street
Independence, MO 64055

c. Describe how this organization is connected to your social issue.
This organization is connected to my social issue because their mission is to prevent and treat all forms of child abuse. It says that 25% - 50% of children will experience some type of child abuse during their child abuse. This organization's purpose is to help victims of child abuse.
8. What steps can be taken to address this issue? (list at least three steps that can be taken)
  • A teacher or school counselor can talk to the child about their problems at home and help them out.
  • The adult can contact the police with whatever the child tells them.
  • A friend should talk to the child about their problems at home and then the friend can listen and be there for their friend. Then, they may tell an adult.

Blog Entry #4.9 - Final Design

I met the Design Specification because I met all of the requirements. I placed all the 9 photos that were required and put all of the 6 text that were required as well. I also extracted 4 or more pictures from Adobe Photoshop CS2. I rotated a few pictures. For the picture of the national bird, I brought it to the front so its head is on top of the picture above it. I used various colors like red, white, and blue. I used Perpetua font because I liked it and I used the size 48 so that everything could fit. I chose the colors red, white, and blue because that is the color of the flag of my country. I chose this layout because it looks organized. I have 2 pictures per row and 3.
