Entry #11 - Picture Research

This image is appropriate because parents are being empowered in the PTA. They are knowledgable about what's happening at their kid's school and they know what is needed to make sure their child is succeeding in school. The parent is not kept in the dark about what's going on with their child academically because they are a part of this association.
This image is appropriate because it shows everyone's hands together. This is a symbol of teamwork. There is teamwork with the Parent Teacher Association. Parents have to contribute and come to the meetings so they can know about their child's school, amongst other things such as programs. So there is a partnership with the parents and the teachers.

I think this image is appropriate for my invitation because it shows how people can come together to help education. With the Parent Teacher Association, everyone comes together to help out the community and better the school so the child can have a better learning experience. It is a national organization. This is why I think this is appropriate for my invitation.

Entry #9 - Capturing Attention Project - Areas of Interaction

In this project, we will be communicating and be creative which relates to Approaches to Learning. We will be communicating with our partners and to the Event Coordinator. We will be creative in creating the invitations for the specific event. Making the actual invitation is a part of Human Ingenuity. The purpose of making the invitation is to catch peoples' attention and persuade them to attend the event.

Entry #8 - Capturing Attention Project - Guiding Questions

  • Do all invitations follow a specific format?
  • How are invitations made?
  • How will I know if my invitation is good enough?

Entry #7 - Capturing Attention Project - Design Task

For this design task, we have to create invitations for events happening at TMA or one of its partners. I chose to work with Raven Williams and together, we have to produce an invitation for the PTA meetings held at the school. If we're lucky, our invitation could be used for the actual event for the rest of the school year.

Entry #1

Question: How have your actions changed the community?

One action that has changed the community is that I don't contribute to pollution. Instead of riding the bus, or riding in a car, or taking the train, I walk. It is approximately a 15 minute walk. Another way my actions have changed the community is that it is allowing the people who live around me to be able to see that getting an education is a positive thing. My success in school is a primary example that anything is possible once you set your mind to it. The school I go to impresses others because they know that TMA is a good school. My good behavior in school shows that not all kids who live in Harlem are the same. Therefore, that is how my actions have changed the community.
